Description
Black and white photograph of the remnants of an old iron furnace. (Scranton, Pennsylvania) This particular furnace structure is massive and was used to melt large quantities of iron. The iron was then poured into molds that created rails for the railroad industry. All that is left of the structure is the thick stone and brick walls. The archway leads to more pits that also once held furnaces inside them.
