Artist's Description

Usually a nocturnal hunter, I found this wolf spider walking down a sidewalk in the late afternoon. Almost three inches from toe to toe, it was large enough for me see its two large eyes looking at mine while I was still six feet away. Wolf spiders are venomous but usually only bite when provoked. I made sure to give it plenty of space as I took its picture.
