Description
The Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia), also called the Black-and-Yellow Garden Spider or Corn Spider. Sometimes it is also referred to as a Zipper Spider due to the thicker layer of silk down the center of its large web that is in a zigzag shape. This particular spider had made its web in the window well of a home in Kansas. The large spider did something unusual that was a bit intimidating. Every time I approached the window it noticed me and seemed to interpret me as a threat. In an effort to either scare me or just make me aware of its presence, it would aggressively thrust its web forward and backward.
