Photograph of a male elk (Vercus canadensis) in velvet. Elk are large graceful creatures with beautiful calls. Males grow large antlers which are shed each year and regrown the next. This lone bull elk was photographed as it wandered and grazed in the hills of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
