Lunar Eclipse. When the earth passes between the Sun and the Moon casting it's shadow onto the moon. During a full lunar eclipse of the moon the surface of the moon appears to be more red in color.

This image is part of a three-part series based on the image "Many Moons." The original piece is an image made on a white piece of paper using a pencil and a compass. It was part of "Mathematics in Art" lesson that EB used in her math classroom with middle school students. The image was then recreated digitally and certain areas filled in with black. Color versions were then developed following the lunar theme: "Lunar Eclipse", "Blue Moon", and "Full Moon".
